First Sons Contracting was built on more than just experience—it was built on love, legacy, and a deep-rooted passion for the outdoors. With over 35 years in the landscaping world and nearly three decades as a Registered Nurse, founder John Woodward brings unmatched care and dedication to every project he takes on.

John’s landscaping journey began at just 15 years old, when he started his first lawn business. Three years later, he passed that business to his father as he headed off to college, never letting go of his love for shaping the land. Life took him down a different professional path—one of service and healing in the medical field—but landscaping always remained close to his heart.

In 2022, after the devastating loss of his oldest son, Mason, and then his grandson the following year—John felt a shift. He reevaluated what brought him purpose and joy. He remembered the encouragement both of his sons gave him over the years, always telling him he should start his own business. In honor of his first son and Evan’s first son, First Sons Contracting was born.
